Lindsay Kolster began studying piano at the age of 7. Growing up in a military family, she had the opportunity to study with many teachers: Margie Willis (Chesapeake, VA); Anna McKinzie (Carlisle, PA); Nancy Egolf (Landisburg, PA); Nanhi Hanson (Philadelphia, PA); Dr. Stephen Erickson (Salve Regina University, Newport, RI); Peggy Schlieker (Omaha, NE); Teri Heil (Omaha, NE), Kim Kloos (Omaha, NE), Bradley Sowash (Denver, CO), and Lelia Viss (Denver, CO). Lindsay's experiences with this diverse group of teachers has allowed her to incorporate the best elements of their teaching styles in her studio.
When Lindsay began teaching in 2008, it was the fulfillment of her dream to combine a love for people and music into a full-time job. The studio has grown from eight students in 2008 to more then sixty students at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. She loves creating music and making new discoveries with her students. Every day is an adventure and there is never a lack of learning and laughter in the studio!
Lindsay is President of the Omaha Music Teachers Association (OMTA), and is a member of the Nebraska Music Teachers Association (NMTA), and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).
Lindsay has been active in her church's music ministry playing piano regularly for worship services. She has performed for graduations, birthday parties, funerals, and a variety of other venues as a soloist and as a member of instrumental ensembles. In addition to her piano background, Lindsay played the flute for five years and performed for one season with the Newport Community Band, Newport, RI.
When she is not teaching, you can find Lindsay at her grand piano continuing her personal studies, attending teachers conferences, enjoying Omaha Symphony concerts, creating in the kitchen, spending time with family and friends, leading Bible studies, reading, hiking, running, and participating in church activities.
